What Are You Wanting in Your Therapist?

One of the biggest factors in choosing a therapist, maybe the biggest, is comfort.

Not the kind of comfort that avoids the hard stuff, but the kind that allows you to go there because something in the room feels steady, safe, and warm enough to hold it all.

I say this not just as a therapist, but as someone who’s sat on the other side of the room, too.

When I’m the client, what I want most is to feel like I can share anything, even the messiest parts, the things I’ve never said out loud, the things that carry shame or fear or grief. I don’t want my therapist to flinch. I don’t want to feel like too much, or like I need to filter or perform or be a “good client.”

I want to feel like my therapist can handle it.
That they’re present.
Warm.
Curious.
And real.

That doesn’t mean every session is easy, in fact, the most meaningful therapy often isn’t.
But it means the discomfort is purposeful. It’s a discomfort that opens. That reveals. That heals.

As a therapist myself now, I hold that standard close.

I want to offer the kind of space where your nervous system can settle, not because everything is perfect, but because you don’t have to hold it alone anymore.

A space where:

  • You can talk about sex, relationships, or trauma without shame

  • You can name things you’ve never said out loud

  • You don’t feel judged, rushed, or pathologized

  • You’re met with compassion and accountability

  • You feel gently guided back to yourself, again and again

If you're looking for a therapist in Oklahoma, especially for trauma, relational work, or sex therapy, I invite you to start by asking yourself:

What do you want in a therapist?
What kind of support feels good to your body?
What kind of energy makes you feel safe enough to be honest?

And if that includes warmth, care, curiosity, and realness, that’s what I’m here to offer.
